With just one week to go to the Fuorisalone Comics students completed their trails: mokas, with embossed paintings and decorations, are ready to be exposed in the Factory.
This week program includes a meeting with the graphics class in order to best study the composition of works: the project is almost defined, but it has been necessary to generate a dialogue between the 2 groups to cross-check their respective visions.
In roder to be ready to tomorrow’s appointment, cartoonists have prepared a detailed presentation of their own work: tomorrow it will be the first opportunity for the graphics class to see the finished products. At the same time, cartoonists will be actively discussing the proposal by the assemblers so far just drafted and not yet analysed in full.

Last week the social group of the graphics class worked out a palimsest to define the kinds and the timings to publish the contents on the chosen platforms, Instagram and Facebook: the scope of the plot is to tell, through small previews, all project phases before and during the Fuorisalone.
This week the team collected and finalized the material relevant to posts: backstage pics and videos of the various classes at work, animated GIFs of the kitchen accessories and sketches by pencil of the cartoons.
Once activated the social pages some issues were encountered: the name Wild Factory was already in use by aother accounts and the GIF format was not suitable to both platforms.
After having sorted out these issues and got the approval by the teachers, students could go live with the post publication.
In the next few weeks a countdown to the Fuorisalone will be introduced, increasing the frequency of new contents.

After weeks and weeks looking after small scale projects, graphics students got free access to the exhibition area. The warehouse, still clogged with objects not relevant to Wild Factory, highlighted several defects but also some good characteristics which can be exploited.
With the support of teachers the areas to be assigned to each piece of work have been defined and, with some test, the most suitable illumination.
Once finalised the design, the group moved into the definition of the budget of the material to purchase. The proposals by the students have therefore been selected and adjusted once verified the actual dimensions of the warehouse.
During the next few weeks the exhibition structures will be realized along with any necessary adjustment. Each change taught students to keep a solid vision not to be bogged down in formal details at the expenses of complexity.
Tuesday, 14th March
This morning storytelling students presented the final screenplays to the comics class.
The drawings, once adapted to the new texts, were reviewed by the teachers and then scanned.
Today cartoonists finalized the ink drawing and any possible blur on Photoshop, while next week they aill look after color levels and the balloons to insert the dialogues among the Little Animals.
The group has to maintain a consistent style in all project phases: almost-flat dyes and sharp contours must be present in all Wild Factory cartoons. This implies a continuous internal check within the class and even more frequent reviews: in order to get to the objective the teachers proposed to assign part of the room to the exhibition of strips at the end of each day.
With just 3 weeks to go to the exhibition, comics students plan to complete their work within 15 days. The remaining time will be dedicated to the cartoons layout and the any last minute issue resolution.
Thursday, 9th March
The development of the screenplay, started last month, is almost complete. The subjects and the strip lines have been in the hands of the cartoonists since last week: storytelling students in fact have started the typos correction and are about to land the dialogues.
In order to bring about a character to the small animals, it’s been decided to insert a claim in each comic strip: short and catchy sentences will provide a context to the situations and will accompany the view of illustrations.
The morning brief highlighted the need for more frequent revisions: in order to speed up editing processes the students decided to swap the screenplays between the groups so to get to the teachers judgment with additional external feedbacks. In order to release the final texts to the comics class next week, a few students were selected to manage the official presentation: these ones will take care of the layout, the choice of the fonts and the relative weights within dialogues.
Monday, 6th March
This week the 3D 2nd year animation class has completed a long modelling process: the scenes elaborate between January and February were rendered in “pinstripe” mode (without materials and colors) in order to be reviewed althogether.
Once last details were finalized, the first animations took place: the most complex movements, wherever a physical simulation was needed, were studied with the support of the teachers, while the simple ones were carried out by the students in autonomy.
The students, split in 3 groups, each one for a section of the videoclip, defined the color palette to be used in the following phases. Still outstanding is the choice for the background music: when the scenes will be assembled following the planned sequence by the storyline it will be possible to define the rhythm of the video and, consequently, the most suitable track.
Wednesday, 1st March
The collaboration between graphics students and developers began this week: the wireframes developed for the different devices (desktop, tablets and mobiles) have been presented to web design students together with the teachers of both departments.
Putting together the specific competencies of both work groups, two main issue shave been identified: the transactions foreseen by graphic students require too long to be developed while the presence of two games would overload 6 web design students. In order to sort out the scroll effects it’s been decided to keep the proposed approach, although simplified, whiel the hidden game was sacrificed in favor of the quiz. The team then split in two groups in order to follow in parallel the site pages and the quiz about “What’s your spirit guide?”.
During the next few weeks the graphics will care about contents, so far indicated with placeholders: pictures and texts will be realised by the same class and revised afterwards by the teachers before finally being loaded online.
